352nd Week - One Can A Week Food Donation Program

Hi Folks,

This Week's Happenings in photos and graphics

We are fast approaching our 7th year donating to the Community Food Bank and one thing is becoming abundantly clear, our neighborhood totally understands what it means to care about folks … week after week no matter what.

Both the food and the cash donations (see below) are nearly the same quarter after quarter. That says a lot about us.

Why Peter Norback Needs Sponsors

Every can collected and every penny donated to One Can A Week goes to the Community Food Bank. And for the past 6 years Peter has been using his social security and earning from teaching computer to support the program. And it worked. One Can A Week is expanding in all kinds of new and exciting directions.

To keep up with this growth, Peter needs more revenue to pay for vehicle maintenance, brochures, more cell phone minutes and more promotional materials for meetings with businesses, schools and community organizations.

In keeping with the One Can A Week philosophy, all that is needed is a small donation on a consistent basis. As we have seen, that kind of commitment works wonders over time.

About "One Can A Week"

Tucson neighborhood trying to change the world one can of food at a time.

Imagine if every household in the Miles Neighborhood left a can of food on the porch every Sunday between 11:30 am and 5 pm. Would anything change? Would there be less hunger in Tucson? That’s exactly what Peter Norback, a Miles Neighborhood resident and all of his neighbors are hoping to prove.

Every Sunday most of the Miles neighbors donate at least one can of food which Peter picks up for delivery on Monday to the Community Food Bank.

The One Can A Week food donation program is helping to feed hungry families in Tucson in addition to involving entire neighborhoods in community service.
